Why I fell in love with BeautyCounter..
Over the years, I realized that equally important as food when it comes to our health is the products we are using - in our homes and on our bodies. Our skin is our largest organ and certainly deserves the same treatment and care as we give to the rest of our body. Some sources say that we are exposed to more hormone disrupting chemicals in just one month than our grandparents were in their entire lifetime.
How's that for a contributing factor in skyrocketing rates of early puberty?! And while the research is not solid as to why, we can all agree this is not a positive change. What's more, there are virtually NO restrictions on the beauty industry as it is today. Did you know that the US has not passed a federal law since 1938 regulating the cosmetic industry, and has NO power to approve or recall products? I certainly was not aware of that lack of regulation for products that I am using multiple times a day on myself and my children.
Beauty Counter is an education-first company devoted to getting safer products into our hands, and is doing some incredible work to change and create policies related to the beauty industry itself.

There is enough about our culture that encourages body shaming and dieting, so I am all for products that make a woman feel and be beautiful inside and out.
